Burn Tower 55

Tower 55 is a four story steel framed metal sided burn tower.  It was made possible by a State grant and a combined effort of  Borough Council, our Fire Company, DPW, and Pristas Contracting.  It was several years in the planning and another year in preparation and construction.  Completed in 2004, the building provides local training that once was available only in North Park or Lewistown, PA.  Firefighters from all over the South Hills are using this facility for live burn and high rise training.  The tower features a main burn room on the first floor with a third floor burn corner for high rise fire training.  The building has a standpipe that runs all the way to the top floor.  The roof is set up for rappalling with anchor points on all sides.  The building also features two balconies that allow high rise rescue training.  We recommend that you coordinate the live burn training in Tower 55 with a State certified instructor who has the resources to obtain adequate assistant instructors and safety officers.
